Padma Lakshmi Comedy Shows hosted by Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers
For the past few years, SKB Event Shop has teamed up with Padma Lakshmi, Caroline Peach Perkins, Jesse David Fox, and Phil Picardi to host an annual charity show, called Padma Puts on a Comedy Show. Hosted by Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers, the show raises valuable funds for organizations identified by Padma based on the current cultural climate.
In December 2020, during the lead-up to the crucial Georgia Senate Runoff Elections, the 3rd annual show benefitted Stacey Abrams’ Fair Fight, raising $20,000 for the organization.
The event was presented virtually, because of the pandemic, and aired on Padma Lakshmi’s YouTube page.
That event featured appearances and performances by:
Alicia Keys, Hasan Minhaj, Sarah Silverman, Chris Rock, Chelsea Peretti, Phoebe Robinson, W. Kamau Bell, Benito Skinner, Kumail Nanjiani and Emily V. Gordon, Mike Birbiglia, Roy Wood Jr., John Early, Amber Ruffin, Jordan Firstman, Michelle Buteau, Dulce Sloan, Patton Oswalt, Julio Torres, Andy Cohen, Aparna Nancherla and Jo Firestone, Caleb Hearon, Wanda Sykes, Joel Kim Booster, Tituss Burgess, Meg Stalter, Patti Harrison, Nikki Glaser, Ayo Edebiri, Naomi Experigin, Mitra Jouhari, Sydnee Washington and Marie Faustin.
For the first time, the event featured musical performances by:
King Princess, Perfume Genius, Brittany Howard of Alabama Shakes, Cautious Clay, Aloe Blacc, Local Natives and Waxahatchee.
The 2019 event was presented live at the Bell House in Brooklyn and featured talent including: Michelle Buteau, Ana Fabrega, Marie Faustin, Roy Wood Jr., Maeve Higgins, Pat Regan, Chris Gethard, Dulce Sloan, Benito Skinner, Julio Torres, Larry Owens, Chloe Fineman, and a special drop in by Chris Rock. That evening raised over $20K for the National Network of Abortion Funds.
The 2018 event was presented live at the Bell House in Brooklyn, and featured talent including: Michelle Wolf, Ziwe Fumudoh, Roy Wood Jr., Jo Firestone, Larry Owens, Patti Harrison, Catherine Cohen and Pat Regan. That evening raised over $20K for the Movement Voter Project.
