Sundance Film Festival Photo Studio

In January 2017, New York Magazine and Vulture set up shop at Sundance Film Festival, producing the "Vulture Spot" interview and portrait studio on Main Street in Park City, Utah.

Visiting talent included:  Peter Dinklage, Laura Dern, Jack Black, Jenny Slate, Salma Hayek, Chelsea Handler, Charlize Theron, Connie Britton, Jon Hamm, Carlos Santana, Adam Horovitz (AD ROCK),  John Legend, Mary J. Blige, Judd Apatow, Kumail Nanjiani, Diplo, Laird Hamilton, Kevin Bacon, Paul Scheer, Molly Shannon, Abbi Jacobson, Tavi Gevinson, Ray Romano, Rashida Jones, Jason Schwartzman, Geena Davis, Jessica Williams, Elijah Wood, Zoe Kazan, Jaime King, Dave Franco, Allison Brie, Michael Showalter, Jason Ritter, Adam Pally, Holly Hunter, Jemima Kirke, Kathryn Hahn, Jill Soloway, Brittany Snow, Jeremy Renner, Elizabeth Olsen, Parker Posey, John Cho, Rory Culkin, Laura Prepon, Nick Offerman, Sam Elliott, Elle Fanning, Michelle Monaghan, Willie Garson, Edie Falco, John Lithgow, Mark Hamill, and more.

Hosted at Rock n Reilly's Pub located centrally on Main Street, we transformed the space by day into a video studio, interviewing talent and casts about their current projects throughout each day, as well as a portrait studio, where NYMag photographer Bobby Doherty captured beautiful shots of talent as they visited the space.

By night, we transformed the space into an event space, hosting post-premiere parties for cast and creators of several films.   We co-hosted (with J.Crew) the after-party for the premiere of the film "Person to Person" starring Michael Cera, Abbi Jacobson and Tavi Gevinson, and also hosted an evening party with our lounge sponsor Tidal streaming service.

Throughout the week, we collaborated with Tidal by producing a small branded area in the lounge for them, positioned centrally in the lounge to allow for them to interact with talent personally, and gift talent Tidal memberships as well as premium headphones upon departure.   We also worked with Tidal to integrate a question from the brand into the editorial interviews during the festival - that question was "What was your first concert", making for a fun and colorful response from all talent, who welcomed a break from the standard questions about their projects at the festival.   The result was valuable (and funny) content we were able to deliver to the sponsor for them to later use in their own mashup / custom video capturing their time as a brand at Sundance Film Festival.
